And people thought that Janet Mock being on the Colbert Report would lead to something OTHER than the same tired transphobia Colbert’s been spouting for years.

yeah like this shit is not okay. people are like “oh its just satire.” but why does this satire smell suspiciously of transphobia? i remember a post saying good satire punches up, not down. why do these jokes always feel like a stab at transgender people rather than a stab at bigots? i think we know why.

SEE THIS IS WHY I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY SHE SEEMS HAPPY WITH THAT INTERVIEW

So did everyone forget Piers Morgan’s debacle?

Do you really think Janet Mock would want to go through that shitstorm twice by voicing concerns & criticisms against liberal idols?

Piers Morgan has nowhere near the social capital & liberal support & love that Colbert & Stewart have, attacking them as a marginalized person would bring about such cisplaining, such attacks that the Piers Morgan debacle would be seen as courteous.

You are all assuming she was fine with it and aren’t taking into account the context of being a visible black trans woman.

Trans women of color have had the historical onus of getting queer movements started without receiving due credit or respect in queer spaces, let alone compensation. And now it’s expected that Janet’s supposed to take on all the cis media figures who fuck up singlehandedly? How is that not problematic as hell, that the black trans woman’s supposed to do that kind of heavy lifting?

Last time I checked, Ms. Mock ain’t nobody’s mama or nobody’s handmaid. Fuck outta here with that.
